Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort

Did not stay for lodging. This was our first time skiing/snowboarding ever. We chose this location because it was affordable and had good reviews. The staff was nice, the website was easy, the equipment rental pick up was smooth. I will say that if this is your first time ever doing something like this, look into another resort with bunny hills or just purchase the red carpet lift. My husband and daughter did the snowboarding and I chose the snow go. Apart from the practice area, all the slopes/runs are steep and very hard to do. We took the lessons but due to how steep it was, we kept falling and felt defeated. We purchased the all lifts but just stayed in the red carpet area. We were scared to try the higher slopes when the red carpet was already hard enough. This is definitely not beginner friendly but if you’ve done it before, go for it.

This place has been perfect for our family! Kids ski free, adults tickets are affordable especially if booked in advance. We have 5 kids that ski so that was a big reason we chose this small resort. We brought our own used skis and equipment, also making this trip budget friendly. Another benefit for families is that all ski runs pretty much lead back down to the same base area, making it easier to keep family together. For beginners, the easy carpet is fun and then the next step recommended is the quad chair lift all the way to the right side of the hill. It has a safety bar that I appreciated for my kiddos. Lift attendants were attentive to slow the chair down for my younger ones as needed. Everyone we met seemed real nice, and happy to be there! We did not eat any of their food or stay in any of their lodging, but instead rented a house nearby for our stay. I’ve heard that some accommodations are basically a step up from camping.

We did not stay at the resort. We stayed at an AirBnB. Most staff I interacted with were pretty cool. The food was decent for lodge burgers and chicken, the fries were really good. We loved the mountain. The runs were really fun and fit for all skill levels. We will be back. Can’t beat it for the price. Had a blast!!

We absolutely love this place! The staff was fast, friendly, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. They truly went above and beyond for our family — Isaac at the ski shop even hooked our boys up with free helmets and ski storage, which made the whole experience so much easier and stress-free. It’s a very family-friendly resort with amazing convenience — easy access to the car and you’re literally on the lift within a minute of skiing down. Great service, thoughtful staff, and an overall smooth experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Skied two days with my experienced ski family of 5 in early January 2025 and lack of snow meant lift #1 and two different blue runs, with other green trails and the fun park, was our ride dozens of times. Such little variety might sound boring but somehow it wasn't. No lift lines, go down/up as fast as you want. Skiing: 5/5 Had lunch at the restaurant. Simple fare and reasonable prices did the needed job. Compare it to eating at the ballpark. Online ordering (from the lift of you want) and ready time estimation and notification worked great. Food: 5/5 Rented skis from the resort. Staff were generally disinterested, and one was actually nasty. Equipment was basic and aging. Boot sizes? We have the halves: 10.5, 11.5, and so on. Ski sizes? 10cm at a time, 140, 150, 160, etc. One ski set ended up having shot bindings so we swapped for a different set and all was well. Rentals: 2/5 Awesome overall value. We booked ahead and skied on a wed/Thu and daily lift tickets were $19 ea, rental $25 ea (we brought our own helmet). Wow. $44 for skiing and gear?!? Then we also got $10 in resort credit each daily, effectively bring it to $34. Lastly, our 11 yr old skied for free, so just $25 rental for her daily. Overall 85% cheaper vs Taos Ski Valley. For families this cost difference makes skiing possible. Cost/value: 5/5

We had an unexpected change in scope on a job nearby and I honestly braced for a painful back-and-forth for a refund. Instead, the team handled it with total professionalism and kindness. The refund process was quick, straightforward, and fair — no drama, no runaround. Huge shoutout to the front desk lady in particular: she was genuinely warm, patient, and helpful throughout, and made what could’ve been a stressful situation feel easy. If you want a place that treats people right when plans change, this is it. Highly recommend!

Great place to take the Family. Buy the lift tickets ahead for resort bucks! My kids loved the instructors, and the fries in the café!

My family and I have been going to this hidden secret for 4 years now. It is a really great way to get the best bang for your buck when you have beginner skiers and boarders. We recommend it to all of our friends and family! Thank you Sipapu for being such an affordable ski resort!
